Everything they did, from ground fielding to catching, was excellent. By putting their bodies on the line, they prevented balls from crossing over the fence. In the end, their brilliant acrobatic efforts proved to be the game’s deciding factor.
On the other hand, the Indian players were sloppy on the field. They made several misfields and dropped too many easy catches, and the Australian batters punished them severely.
Beth Mooney of Australia was one batter who took advantage of India’s poor fielding. Mooney danced down the track in the tenth inning but couldn’t get to the pitch of the ball. Her mistimed shot went straight to Shafali Verma at long-on, but the 19-year-old blew it.
The ball rolled over to the boundary ropes, giving Mooney and Australia an easy boundary. Mooney was batting on 32 when Shafali called time, and she went on to score a brilliant 54 off 37 balls.
Shafali took a catch at backward point on the penultimate ball of the 12th over to end the 29-year-innings, old’s but the damage had already been done. Following the catch, the Indian teenager’s pent-up frustration got the best of her, and she directed a few expletives at the batter while directing her to the pavilion.
Nikal B***c**d! yelled Shafali after catching Mooney off Shikha Pandey’s bowling.
The aggressive behaviour of the teenager divided Indian fans. While some saw nothing wrong with her abusing a senior opponent, others thought it was completely unnecessary and that she could have avoided it.
Those who supported her said her aggression reminded them of former men’s team captain Virat Kohli’s animated celebrations, while those who criticised her said her attitude was out of proportion to her age and performance.
source: crick onFans admire Virat Kohli’s aggression because he has won many matches for India on his own. His tenacity brings out the best in him.
Shafali, on the other hand, is far too young to be involved in any of this. Her primary goal should be to score as many runs as she can and contribute to India’s victories. Only then will people tolerate her aggression, as they did in the case of Kohli.
