According to the report, the Catalans will be able to pay tribute to Messi during the 2024-25 season when the team returns to the Camp Nou with the renovations already completed, coinciding with the club’s 125th anniversary.
The club president, Joan Laporta, has already given his approval to the plan following discussions with Messi’s father, Jorge Messi, where both parties met to normalise relations and bring positions closer together, according to reports.
Despite speculation about Messi’s possible return to Barcelona, Messi’s father, who has also served as his agent throughout his career, stated last week that Messi is unlikely to return to the Nou Camp.
Jorge did not rule out relocating to Catalonia. I’m not sure (for sure), life can take so many twists and turns, he added.
Messi’s emotional exit from Barcelona, where he etched his name into legend, was heavily scrutinised by the media after the Blaugrana’s financial problems prevented him from signing a new contract.
