It is a proud and emotional moment for me as I become the first woman hockey player to have a stadium named after me, she added. This is dedicated to the Indian women’s hockey team, and I hope it inspires the next generation of female hockey players!
Rani returned to the Indian team earlier this year during a tour of South Africa, where she was part of a 22-member squad. Rani was returning to the squad after winning her 250th cap for India against Belgium in the FIH Women’s Hockey Pro League 2021-22.
The 28-year-old had been out with an injury since the Tokyo Olympics and had been left out of the World Cup and Commonwealth Games squads for 2022.
