Rohit’s family was financially unable to provide him with cricket equipment in his early days, and he had to find his own way to overcome this challenge. Former Indian cricketer Pragyan Ojha made a shocking revelation recently when he spoke about Rohit’s struggles in his early days before he made it to international cricket.
Ojha, who has a great camaraderie with Rohit, said that the Mumbai cricketer used to deliver milk cartons to save money for a cricket kit as his family had given him limited budget.
He came from a middle class family and I remember him getting emotional when we talked about our early days. He had a limited budget and delivered milk cartons to earn extra money to buy his equipment. That was a really long time ago, and when I see him now, I am very proud of his journey, Ojha said on the Jio Cinema show My Time With Rohit.
Ojha’s comments left fans in complete shock as they could not believe that Rohit had to deliver milk cartons before he became a household name in Indian cricket.
Back to cricket, Rohit Sharma will lead Mumbai Indians in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) which begins on Friday (March 31).
Rohit had a tough time with the bat last year, and Mumbai Indians finished 9th. He will try to lead from the top, because after IPL, the Indian team will face Australia in the final of the Test World Cup, and they will need their captain in form.
