In remembrance of that jubilant victory on home turf, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has decided to erect a memorial to the winning Indian team and its captain at the spot where the winning six was hit. This requires the removal of 5 chairs, seat numbers J282 to J286, from the MCA pavilion stand.
The memorial was inaugurated by former captain MS Dhoni five days after the 12th anniversary of the 2011 world cup victory. The news agency ANI shared the video on social media.
Dhoni was presented with digital collectibles earlier on Sunday for his winning six and unbeaten 91-run innings that brought India home. During a special event in Chennai, the former India captain was honoured by ICC Head of Digital Finn Bradshaw and Founder of FanCraze Anshum Bhambri.

The best feeling was 15-20 minutes prior to the moment of victory. We didn’t require many runs, the partnership was well-positioned, and there was a great deal of dew. The stadium then began singing Vande Mataram.
During the ICC event, Dhoni told former Australian batsman Mike Hussey, It’s very difficult to recreate that atmosphere – maybe in the 2023 World Cup, once the stadium and fans start contributing, we’ll see something similar, Dhoni said.
