For its efforts to increase in-house production of train coaches and rakes and improve railway connectivity, the Modi-led Central Government is to be applauded. The 2023u201324 Budget’s greatest capital spending of Rs 2.4 lakh crore for the Railways, which is nine times the amount set aside in 2013u201314, attests to the Center’s determination to enhance the country’s transportation lifeline.

    It is admirable that the ICF is leading the export of rail coaches and coach parts to a number of Asian and African nations, including Thailand, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Zambia, Tanzania, and Uganda. For the Kolkata Metro, the Chennai facility has also produced air-conditioned new generation rakes. Along with these successes on the manufacturing front, it is anticipated that the Railways will achieve greater heights as a result of the initiatives taken to improve passenger safety and comfort.
    The current administration must continue its outstanding work while also remembering how much it has benefited from standing on the shoulders of its forerunners.
