In a thrilling match of IPL 2023, Delhi Capitals (DC) stunned Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) with a 7-wicket win. The match was played at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in Delhi.
After winning the toss, RCB decided to bat first and put up a decent total of 170 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Devdutt Padikkal was the top scorer for RCB with 62 runs off 43 balls, while AB de Villiers contributed with 44 runs off 25 balls.
In response, DC got off to a solid start with their openers Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan putting up a 75-run partnership in just 8 overs. Shaw was the aggressor, scoring 56 runs off just 34 balls, while Dhawan played the anchor role with 45 runs off 39 balls.
Despite losing Dhawan and Shaw in quick succession, DC’s middle order held their nerves and chased down the target with 5 balls to spare. Rishabh Pant remained unbeaten on 36 runs off 25 balls, while Shimron Hetmyer provided the finishing touches with a quickfire 24 off 9 balls.
With this win, DC moves up to the second position in the IPL 2023 points table, while RCB slips to the fourth position. The next match for DC is against Kolkata Knight Riders, while RCB will face Mumbai Indians in their next fixture.
