In a thrilling encounter between Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League 2023, Delhi Capitals emerged victorious, and David Warner credited their win to their strategy of countering the RCB bowler, Mohammed Siraj.
Warner, who played a crucial knock of 65 off 45 balls in the match, stated that Siraj was a key bowler for RCB and they had planned to counter him by being aggressive from the start. Siraj is a world-class bowler and can be a game-changer, so our plan was to go after him and not let him settle, said Warner.
Delhi Capitals got off to a great start, with openers Warner and Prithvi Shaw putting on a 100-run partnership. Despite a late surge from RCB, DC managed to post a challenging total of 185/5 in their 20 overs. In response, RCB got off to a shaky start, losing three quick wickets in the powerplay. However, AB de Villiers and Glenn Maxwell launched a counter-attack, putting on a 90-run partnership and bringing RCB back into the game.
But the DC bowlers held their nerve and picked up wickets at crucial intervals to restrict RCB to 173/7, securing a 12-run victory. Ishant Sharma was the pick of the DC bowlers, taking three wickets for just 22 runs.
With this win, Delhi Capitals moved up to second place in the IPL 2023 points table, while RCB slipped to third. Both teams have now played seven matches, winning four each, and are separated only by net run rate.
The IPL 2023 season has been full of excitement and thrilling encounters so far, and fans can expect more of the same as the tournament progresses.
