In the latest news from Serie A 2022-23, Samuel Iling-Junior scored his first goal for Juventus as they secured a 2-0 victory over Atalanta at the Allianz Stadium on Sunday.
Juventus dominated the game from the start, with Cristiano Ronaldo coming close to scoring on several occasions in the first half. However, it was Iling-Junior who broke the deadlock in the 53rd minute, when he finished off a well-worked team move with a composed finish past Atalanta goalkeeper Juan Musso.
Atalanta tried to respond, but Juventus’ defense held firm, with goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny making some important saves. Juventus then doubled their lead in the 84th minute, when Juan Cuadrado scored with a stunning long-range strike.
The victory moves Juventus up to fourth place in the Serie A table, just two points behind third-placed Napoli, while Atalanta remain in seventh place.
After the game, Juventus’ manager, Massimiliano Allegri, was pleased with his team’s performance, saying, We played with intensity and focus, and we deserved to win. Samuel’s goal was fantastic, and I’m happy for him. We still have a lot of work to do, but we’re moving in the right direction.
Meanwhile, Atalanta’s manager, Gian Piero Gasperini, was disappointed with his team’s display, saying, We didn’t play at our best today, and Juventus deserved to win. We need to regroup and come back stronger in our next game.
Juventus will be hoping to continue their good form when they take on Genoa in their next league game, while Atalanta will be looking to bounce back when they face Udinese.
