In the latest ICC ODI rankings released on May 9th, 2023, India has slipped to the third spot, while Australia has retained their top spot as the world’s number one team in One Day Internationals.
India, who were previously in the second spot, have been pushed down to third after losing their recent ODI series against England by a margin of 2-1. This has resulted in them losing two rating points and dropping to a total of 118 points.England, on the other hand, have gained two rating points and moved up to the second spot with a total of 120 points. This is the first time since 2015 that England have reached the second spot in the ODI rankings.
Australia, who have been dominant in ODI cricket in recent years, have retained their top spot with a total of 126 points. They have been unbeaten in their last 10 ODI series and are the favorites to win the upcoming ODI World Cup in 2023.
Other teams in the top five include New Zealand at the fourth spot with 111 points and South Africa at the fifth spot with 103 points.
In the individual player rankings, Indian skipper Virat Kohli continues to hold the top spot in the ODI batting rankings, followed by Australian opener David Warner and England’s Joe Root. In the bowling rankings, New Zealand’s Trent Boult is at the top spot, followed by Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan and South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada.
The ICC rankings are updated regularly to reflect the performances of teams and individual players in international cricket matches. The next update for the ODI rankings is scheduled to take place in June 2023.
