Manchester City has won the English Premier League title for the third consecutive year, after a dominant season in which they led the league from start to finish. The title was secured on the final day of the season, as Manchester City defeated Aston Villa 4-1 to finish the campaign with 86 points, 12 points clear of second-placed Manchester United.
City’s title-winning campaign was built on a rock-solid defense, which conceded just 26 goals in 38 league games, and an attacking lineup that scored 83 goals, the most of any team in the league. The team was led by the inspirational manager Pep Guardiola, who has now won five Premier League titles in his career, three of them with Manchester City.Speaking after the title-clinching victory, Guardiola praised his team’s hard work and dedication throughout the season. I’m so proud of these players, they’ve worked so hard all season and deserve this title, he said. It’s been a tough year for everyone, but the way we’ve played and the way we’ve stuck together as a team has been incredible.
Manchester City will now turn their attention to the upcoming Champions League final, where they will face fellow English club Chelsea in an all-English final. The match, which will be played in Istanbul on May 29th, represents an opportunity for Manchester City to win their first ever Champions League trophy, and complete a historic domestic and European double.
