**Mumbai:** In a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut accused the PM of taking arbitrary decisions regarding the withdrawal of Rs 2,000 notes from circulation. Raut’s comments came during a press conference held at the party headquarters today.
Expressing his discontent, Raut claimed that the decision to withdraw the high-value currency was made without any proper consultation or consideration of its consequences. He labeled it as another example of the Prime Minister’s one-man show style of governance.Source:- IET
The sudden withdrawal of Rs 2,000 notes without any concrete explanation has caused unnecessary chaos and inconvenience for the common people. The decision appears to be arbitrary and lacks transparency, Raut stated.
Raut further criticized the Modi government for failing to provide a convincing rationale behind the move, suggesting that it might be an attempt to distract the public from more pressing issues. He emphasized that such important economic decisions should be made after thorough deliberation and should not be driven by individual whims.
The government owes an explanation to the citizens of this country who are facing difficulties due to this decision. It is high time we moved away from this autocratic style of governance and started prioritizing the interests of the people, Raut added.
The withdrawal of Rs 2,000 notes was announced earlier this week by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), stating that it was a measure to combat black money and promote digital transactions. However, the suddenness of the decision and the lack of a proper transition plan has sparked criticism from various quarters.
While the opposition parties have raised concerns over the decision, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) defended the move, emphasizing the government’s commitment to curb corruption and promote a cashless economy.
As the controversy surrounding the withdrawal of Rs 2,000 notes continues to escalate, it remains to be seen how the government will address the criticisms and alleviate the concerns raised by Sanjay Raut and others who believe that such decisions require more careful consideration and public consultation.
