They referred to the PM’s plan to inaugurate the structure by himself as a direct assault on our democracy in a united statement. The parties claim that because the soul of democracy has been sucked out of Parliament, they find no value in a new building.

The Congress has stated that the President should perform the honors rather than the PM because he or she is the head of Parliament, citing the Constitution. The Opposition is being accused by the Centre of politicizing a momentous occasion. It asserts that the inauguration is not exceptional because Rajiv Gandhi laid the cornerstone for the Parliament Library on August 15, 1987, while Indira Gandhi, the previous prime minister, launched the Parliament House Annexe on October 24, 1975.
Notably, the respective Presidents also dedicated the library and placed the foundation stone for the annexe. In this instance, the PM is also scheduled to inaugurate the new structure after laying the foundation stone on December 10, 2020.

As a sign of reverence for the temple of democracy, Prime Minister Modi knelt and bowed his head when he visited Parliament House for the first time in 2014. Less than a year after the country celebrated its 75th anniversary of independence, it is because of his hard work that this enormous monument of 21st-century India has been made ready.
It’s time for him to back off and let this amazing structure, which is a living example of a lively democracy, take center stage. Accepting the demand from the opposition to be invited to the inauguration will only serve to highlight the president’s generosity. This historic event shouldn’t be marred by controversy.
