On the basis of complaints from seven female wrestlers, including a minor, who accused him of sexual harassment and criminal intimidation, the Delhi Police filed two FIRs against BJP MP and Wrestling Federation of India President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.
This violent confrontation occurred precisely one month after that. Cops questioned Brij Bhushan earlier this month, but the demonstrators are seeking the MP’s arrest since the probe is moving too slowly. The agitated wrestlers have now been told they cannot enter Jantar Mantar. This effectively denies them the democratic right to demonstrate in such a visible location.
Had the BJP-led Central government been proactive in resolving the wrestlers’ complaints, Sunday’s chaos might not have occurred. The protesters believed that the authorities did not take them seriously, which caused the situation to spiral out of control.

The least the Centre can do at this point is to guarantee a free, impartial, and timely investigation into the serious claims. A remedy and justice should be provided for athletes who achieve success for their nation on the international stage. The future of Indian democracy does not look good if we treat them like troublemakers. The reputation of the country is in fact at risk.
