At a National Democratic Alliance (NDA) meeting, PM Modi responded by stating that while coalitions have a long history in India, ones built on negativity have never been successful.

Notably, 38 parties, including the Shiv Sena and NCP fractions led by Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, respectively, were present at the meeting of the BJP-led NDA.
The BJP is not treating the Opposition lightly, as seen by the NDA’s concurrent display of strength; the latter has already had two significant meetings (in Patna and Bengaluru) in less than a month, with a coordination committee expected to be created at the next meeting in Mumbai.

Do these parties have the strength and unity enough to stave off the BJP’s onslaught in 2024? Less than half of the current strength of the NDA is represented by the 26 parties, who have about 150 seats in the Lok Sabha. The Congress continues to be the main Opposition party and is now in power in Jharkhand, Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, and Himachal Pradesh in addition to being a junior partner in the ruling coalition there.
The ability of the Congress and its INDIA allies, like the AAP and the Trinamool Congress, to put aside their disagreements will determine a lot of things. The BJP would do whatever it takes to destroy the Opposition camp, as seen by the divide in the Shiv Sena and the NCP.
