A description of the occurrence and a video of it were included in a FIR that was filed in May. However, until last week when the video started going viral, no investigation or arrests were made.
The state’s chief minister, N Biren Singh, urged the death penalty for the offenders but also noted that there were several instances of this kind of crime in the state. He needs to be held responsible for this crime, the several others he listed, as well as the overall condition of affairs during the past three months. Unfortunately, he did not rise beyond his typical politics even in this circumstance.
