The figures have increased over time in lockstep with the growth in the number of pupils enrolling in coaching facilities. Data from the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) show that 8% of suicides in the nation included students. Kota would receive a sizable portion of it.
In Kota, there are reportedly roughly 225,000 students preparing for admission exams. The majority of them are young and in their formative years. They are burdened by their own objectives, parental expectations, peer pressure, the strict coaching techniques used in the institutions, and other problems.
Many of them come from common families in small and medium towns, and their parents frequently borrow money to pay for their kids’ schooling. They have no contact with their family. The daily schedule consists of 14u201315 hours of study with no downtime. Many people are there as a result of parental orders. Young brains are under strain due to poor performance and a fear of failure, which contributes to suicide thoughts.
Many people battle mental illnesses. According to research, eight out of ten Kota students reported anxiety or stress-related issues, and four out of ten students had depression. It has also been noted that many students who successfully enroll in highly sought-after programs after undergoing such rigorous and demanding coaching lack original thought and struggle to lead fulfilling social lives.

The issue has already been addressed in the past through actions. Authorities at coaching schools and other parties have occasionally been presented with rules to abide with. Parents have been educated, and pupils have received counseling.
An age restriction for students, more flexible exit and fee refund rules, improved training for teaching and hostel staff, and other suggestions have been presented by a committee that the Rajasthan government created last month. A law has also been discussed. Any teaching and coaching system should be centered on the students’ lifestyles and physical and mental wellbeing. In Kota and other areas where these coaching schools are prevalent, this must be enforced.
