The workers were building a road tunnel in the northern state of Uttarakhand when a landslide caused a portion of the tunnel to collapse. Rescue teams have been working day and night to reach the trapped workers, but their efforts have been hampered by the unstable terrain and the risk of further collapses.
We are doing everything we can to reach the trapped workers as soon as possible, said an official from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). But the situation is very challenging.
Rescuers have been using heavy machinery to clear debris and create a passage to the trapped workers. They have also been providing food, water, and medical supplies to the workers through a ventilation shaft.Source:-ndtvThe families of the trapped workers are anxiously awaiting their rescue. We are praying for their safe return, said one family member. We are losing hope with each passing hour.
The tunnel collapse is the latest in a series of infrastructure accidents in India. In recent months, there have been several incidents of bridges and buildings collapsing, often due to poor construction or lack of maintenance.
The government has pledged to investigate the cause of the tunnel collapse and take steps to prevent similar accidents in the future.
