The leaders discussed the geopolitical crises arising from the war-torn regions of West Asia and eastern Europe during their meeting with their Australian counterparts, Richard Marles and Penny Wong.

    Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also noted the current pressing global concerns. Bilateral and strategic ties between India and Australia have been strengthening ever since the first 2+2 ministerial dialogue took place in September 2021. 
    During the last year and a half, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi had met six times on various forums, including Quad. The two countries declared in March that they would accept each other’s students’ degrees as proof of their educational attainment.

    This effort is important since thousands of Indians pick Australian colleges and universities for their post-secondary education. Remarkably, the two countries promptly promised to sign a full trade agreement before the end of the year.All of the engagementsu2014military, political, economic, and educationalu2014benefit both parties and indicate a stable partnership. The stable relationships become more significant in a world full of war. 
    But one complex matter sticks out: extreme groups are permitted to utilise Australian territory as a springboard for separatist movements in India. Modi brought up the issue, and he received an assurance that it will be handled with cooperation. Canberra needs to pull the appropriate levers to untangle the mess.
