It also acknowledges the significance of the wealthy, spending-obsessed Indian tourists who travel the world in large numbers. Some residents of the island nation believe that Prime Minister Modi is attempting to lure visitors away from the well-known Maldives with his visit to Lakshadweep.
For both the tourism sector and the travellers, a competitive spirit can work wonders, but maintaining a sense of realism is essential. There isn’t enough infrastructure or support system in Lakshadweep to meet the demand from tourists. Maintaining its delicate ecological balance is equally important. Though normalisation of relations must be the ultimate objective, India’s strong opposition to Male is not without justification.
