Furthermore, there are no obvious hints as to the motivation. Ten persons were hurt by the powerful explosion, with 40% of them having burn injuries. Someone else might lose one eye’s vision.
The long-lasting calm in the state and city has been shattered by the explosion. Given the circumstances and the data that is now available, it is reasonable to believe that it was an attack on a public space and that individuals were the target at random. This comes after ruling out the majority of the chances of an accident or commercial rivalry. A case has been filed under several IPC and UAPA (Unlawful Activities Prevention Act) sections against unidentified individuals.

Given the similarities in the detonator and timing used, the authorities have suggested that there may be a connection between the Brookefield explosion and the 2022 Mangalore cooker explosion. After a cooker bomb unintentionally exploded in an autorickshaw outside of Mangalore, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) looked into the incident, connecting it to the previous explosions in Coimbatore and speculating that the accused had been influenced by the Islamic State (IS).
Nonetheless, the authorities have stated that other lines of inquiry were being investigated and that any potential connection between the Brookefield event and the IS was but one. It is still unknown who the culprit was who fled the cafe following the explosion. Although there have been rumours that certain people have been arrested, the police have refuted any arrests related to the matter.

Making any assumptions about the case and releasing them to the public is a bad idea. They could only cause harm and instil fear in the hearts of the populace. Naturally, people would worry about safety in public areas, therefore the government should take action to make sure that no one’s life, limb, or property is in danger.
On this front, the police and other security and intelligence agencies need to be very vigilant and proactive. The nation is approaching the Lok Sabha elections, therefore the upcoming weeks will be quite delicate. It would be easy to politicise the situation, and even those who attempt to take advantage of it could suffer as a result. It is best to leave the investigation to the police and other cooperating agencies.
