The Prime Minister asserts that this is the “strongest” government coalition in history while describing the NDA as an organic alliance dedicated to the “nation first” ideal. For the first time, Modi will be heading a true coalition government; in the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP had managed to cross the halfway point on its own, but this time, they were unable to reach the crucial number.

To establish the government, it now needs the backing of allies like Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United) and N Chandrababu Naidu’s Telugu Desam Party. In addition to demanding their share of the spoils, both regional satraps are anticipated to keep the BJP-led government on its toes.

The NDA’s fundamental tenet, according to the PM, is mutual trust. When the government becomes serious, this confidence will be put to the test. Thanks to obedient friends and a feeble opposition, the ruling BJP has pushed one bill after another through Parliament over the last ten years.

But this time, neither the allies nor the adversaries of the saffron party will be taken lightly. The Congress-led INDIA, encouraged by its election victory, will seize every opportunity to press the government on the Agnipath program, the Uniform Civil Code, and other important matters.

The crucial query is whether PM Modi and the BJP would become more understanding of the demands and goals of their supporters and less contemptuous of their political rivals in the absence of a resounding majority. Legendary coalition dharma proponent Atal Bihari Vajpayee was an advocate of bringing people together and fostering consensus. Whether Modi can reinvent himself to step into those large shoes is yet to be seen.
