Australia’s star pacer Pat Cummins made headlines by claiming a hat-trick during the T20 World Cup Super Eight match against Bangladesh, but nearly forgot to celebrate the milestone.

Cummins achieved this remarkable feat by dismissing Mahmudullah and Mahedi Hasan with the last two deliveries of his third over, and then removing Towhid Hridoy with the first ball of his fourth over. This hat-trick makes Cummins only the second Australian bowler to achieve this in a T20 World Cup, following Brett Lee.

Interestingly, Cummins almost missed celebrating his achievement. “I didn’t know I was on a hat-trick,” he admitted. “I did the previous over, saw it come up on the screen, and by the time the next over came around I had totally forgotten about it. Think Marcus Stoinis ran in from the deep and was cheering, and everyone’s like, oh yeah. So, nice one,” Cummins shared.
Australia won the rain-affected match by 28 runs via the Duckworth-Lewis method, with David Warner contributing an unbeaten half-century. This victory places Australia at the top of Group 1, ahead of India.
Cummins’ hat-trick and Australia’s strong performance have set a positive tone for their upcoming matches in the tournament.
