Former Indian cricketer Robin Uthappa has expressed his strong support for Virat Kohli ahead of India’s crucial ICC T20 World Cup Super 8s match against Australia. Uthappa, speaking on Ravichandran Ashwin’s YouTube channel, emphasized the importance of a solid innings from Kohli, even if it comes at a lower strike rate than usual.

India, currently leading Group One with two wins from two games, faces a must-win clash against Australia, who are in second place with one win and one loss. The match is set to take place at Saint Lucia on Monday.

Uthappa highlighted Kohli’s potential to turn the game around, stating, “I want a 65-70 not out from Virat. Even if it’s at a 120-125 strike rate, I don’t care. Once he gets that little taste of blood, he can do anything.” He believes that a strong performance from Kohli before the semifinals could significantly empower Team India.

Kohli, who has scored 66 runs in five games with an average of 13.20 and a strike rate of 108.19, has struggled on the pitches at New York’s Nassau County Stadium. Despite his recent form, Uthappa remains confident in Kohli’s ability to deliver when it matters most.

India’s previous game saw them secure a 50-run victory over Bangladesh, while Australia suffered a surprising 21-run defeat to Afghanistan. As the two teams prepare for their high-stakes encounter, all eyes will be on Kohli to see if he can rise to the occasion and lead India to victory.
