In a tragic turn of events, former Sri Lanka Under-19 cricket captain Dhammika Niroshana, aged 41, lost his life in a shocking incident at his residence in Ambalangoda, a town in Sri Lanka’s Galle district. On Tuesday night, an unidentified assailant opened fire, fatally wounding Niroshana. He was with his wife and two children at the time of the attack.

Niroshana, known for his promising cricketing career, made his Under-19 debut in 2000 and briefly captained the team in 2002. Although he never played for the senior national team, he shared the field with future Sri Lanka stars such as Angelo Mathews, Upul Tharanga, and Farveez Maharoof. His contributions extended to the first-class circuit, where he represented Chilaw Marians CC and later Galle CC.
