ufeffWhat can truly be only called the end of an era, Serena Williams, a name almost synonymous with tennis, has announced her retirement from the sport. The announcement was made in a rather eccentric manner – through an article on Vogue.Serena personified tennis for a lot of women across the world. In her legendary career, she won 39 Grand Slams including 23 singles, 14 doubles, and 2 mixed. Her 23 Grand Slam record remains untouched to this day. Not only that, but she has also won 4 Olympics gold medals and was ranked number 1 for an unbelievable 319 weeks. However, numbers cannot do real justice to the legacy she is leaving behind for every young girl wanting to pursue a career in tennis. Her talent and contribution will be etched in history amongst the stalwarts. In a consequent interview, she said, u201cNow itu2019s my time to focus on my family.u201d
