Ravindra Jadeja has been ruled out of the tournament due to a right knee injury. He is currently being monitored by the BCCI medical team.
His replacement, Axar Patel, was previously named as one of the squad’s standbys and will join the team in Dubai soon, the statement continued. The press release did not specify how he was injured, but it did state that he was currently under the care of the BCCI medical team.
Axar Patel, who was in the reserves, is expected to join the main squad soon. Jadeja’s knee injury has troubled him recently, causing him to miss several important series. Along with fellow allrounder Hardik Pandya, the southpaw was a key figure in India’s five-wicket win over archrivals Pakistan in the first group game of the ongoing continental tournament.
Because he had only recently returned from injury, fans initially assumed it was a joke. But when they realized it was true, they were heartbroken because of the impact the allrounder had on the competition’s group stage.
The presence of Jadeja allowed the management to play one batter fewer, but they will have to change their strategy. With him gone, the team’s management is likely to stick with Rishabh Pant in the starting lineup. The winner of the last group game between Pakistan and Hong Kong will face India on Sunday (Sep 4).
What are your thoughts on Jadeja’s performance?
