Chris Pine is dispelling rumours. Don’t Worry Darling, the widely awaited film starring Harry Styles, has recently been mired in controversy. The film has received negative criticism, ranging from rumours of friction between director Olivia Wilde and primary actress Florence Pugh to previous protagonist Shia LaBeouf exposing Wilde. The camera has now focused on a viral encounter involving Chris Pine and Harry Styles.
The actors of the film gathered for the premiere of the psychological thriller while visiting the Venice Film Festival, however the picture got more coverage for a brief clip than anything else about the film’s brilliance. Styles appears to spit on Chris Pine as he approaches his seat in the theatre in the viral video. The clip perplexed the internet and sparked an outrage as fans were left perplexed over Styles’ apparent behaviour.
To clear the air, Chris Pine’s representatives came forward to clarify that all of the web rumours were foolish guesswork. The spokesman fiercely disputed the accusations in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, saying, This is a stupid tale, a total fiction and the consequence of an unusual web illusion that is blatantly deceptive and allows for dumb conjecture. They proceeded by saying, To clarify, Harry Styles did NOT spit on Chris Pine. Any insinuation to the contrary is a clear attempt to generate drama that just does not exist.
Concerning the rumoured conflict between Wilde and Pugh, the director denied any such tension during the press conference, but Pugh’s conspicuous absence from the event left a quiet qualm in the air. Pugh skipped the photocall and press conference for her film at the Venice Film Festival because she was filming the Dune sequel in Budapest.
