Team India was eliminated from the T20 World Cup in the UAE last year after losing to Pakistan and New Zealand in the Group stage. The Men in Blue were looking to change their fate in a multi-nation series 10 months later, with a new captain and coach in Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid. But it was the same old story when they failed to deliver in a knockout match against Sri Lanka.
It is past time for the BCCI and team management to make some tough decisions and deliver some results for the fans and Indian cricket as a whole. The team will compete in the T20 World Cup, which begins next month, and the Men in Blue must produce results to re-establish fan confidence that they, too, can deliver in big games.
After the loss, India is out of the tournament and will need other results to go their way in order to qualify for the final.Dissatisfied with India’s performance, a fan went on a rant against the BCCI and the IPL, urging the board to prioritize Indian cricket over franchise cricket.
Something to think about today. When you become arrogant, this is what happens. Calm down, first the BCCI, then the IPL. You are not God. This is reality; you are not playing for the IPL, but for your country. It is critical to remember that you can have the richest board in the world, but when you are on the field, you must show. This is bullshit, an enraged fan exclaimed after the game.
Many cricket fans on social media blamed the BCCI and the IPL for India’s failure in crucial situations in major tournaments, urging the board to abandon their money-making mindset and focus on improving the standard of cricket.
