According to BCCI insiders, the limited overs series against Australia and South Africa will help them gain match experience ahead of the ICC event. With the T20 World Cup team submission deadline approaching, the national selection committee is expected to meet on September 15 to select the India squad for the mega event. As a result, both Bumrah and Harshal are expected to remain in the squad.
Their fitness, however, will be monitored throughout the home series. Following a poor showing in the Asia Cup, several former cricketers, including Brett Lee, pressured for Mohammed Shami’s recall, but it remains to be seen whether the selectors will recall the seasoned campaigner if both Harshal and Bumrah are brought back.
