Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party, and Asaduddin Owaisi, the president of AIMIM, have both welcomed the Supreme Court’s recent guidelines that impose checks on the use of bulldozers for demolitions. The court’s ruling aims to ensure that demolitions are carried out in a lawful and transparent manner, preventing arbitrary actions that disproportionately affect marginalized communities.

Akhilesh Yadav, in his statement, expressed satisfaction with the judgment, stating that it will bring an end to the controversial practice of using bulldozers as a tool for political vendettas. He remarked that the ruling would ensure that such actions, which have often been viewed as punitive and unjust, will now be more scrutinized and conducted under proper legal procedures. Yadav suggested that the decision will now force the authorities to follow the rule of law, rendering the bulldozer “parked in the garage” rather than used for politically motivated demolitions

Asaduddin Owaisi also welcomed the guidelines, calling them a step in the right direction for ensuring justice and equality. Owaisi has been an outspoken critic of the practice, which has often been used to demolish properties in areas predominantly inhabited by Muslim communities. He emphasized that the guidelines would ensure demolitions are carried out only after due process, based on proper legal orders and with prior notice to the affected individuals.
The Supreme Court’s guidelines come after a series of high-profile demolitions that have raised concerns about targeted actions and the fairness of such practices. The ruling is seen as a victory for those advocating for human rights and due process, aiming to prevent arbitrary demolitions and uphold constitutional values.
