The movie has reportedly made 360 crores in both national and international box office receipts, according to its own producers. The amount is the largest for a Hindi film this year. How can a movie be considered a success if the producers don’t get their money back?
Only four months have passed since the release of The Kashmir Files. The movie’s net earnings were roughly 290 crore (gross: 340 crores), which is nearly the same as Brahmastra’s. The production budget for The Kashmir Files, however, was still only 15 crore, compared to 410 crores for Brahmastra. The Kashmir Files is a true success as a result, but Brahmastra is still a subject of debate.
So, what is the best way to determine whether a movie is successful?
The equation remains the same, according to exhibitor Akshaye Rathi: It is about investment returns..  the cost of producing, marketing, and promoting the movie in comparison to the revenue from ticket sales, and online streaming.
