The controversy began when the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced the Trophy Tour itinerary, which included cities like Skardu, Hunza, and Muzaffarabad in PoK. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) strongly objected to this decision, citing the disputed status of these regions. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah urged the ICC to take strong action and exclude PoK from the tour

In response to the BCCI’s objections, the ICC swiftly revised the tour schedule, removing the PoK cities from the itinerary. The revised schedule now includes cities like Karachi, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Abbottabad, Taxila, and Nathia Gali. The tour will conclude in Karachi on November 25, 2024, before continuing its international journey.
The ICC has emphasized that the Trophy Tour will provide special engagement for global fans through dynamic and colorful events that highlight the event’s new visual identity. Fans will also be treated to a content series titled “Champion on Tour,” which will document the Trophy Tour’s journey around the world through the lens of food, music, and cricket
Despite the controversy, the ICC remains optimistic about the success of the Champions Trophy 2025 and the positive impact it will have on cricket fans worldwide. The tour will continue to showcase the vibrant cultures of the participating nations and provide fans with an unforgettable experience of being up close with the iconic trophy
As the tour progresses, all eyes will be on Pakistan as they gear up to host the prestigious tournament. The ICC and PCB are working together to ensure a smooth and successful event, despite the challenges posed by the recent controversy
