Congress leader Jairam Ramesh took to social media, alleging that Gautam Adani remains free due to protection from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Ramesh referred to accusations that the Adani Group bribed public officials in India to secure a port contract, as highlighted in US legal proceedings. He questioned why Indian authorities, including the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Enforcement Directorate (ED), have not initiated a probe despite mounting international scrutiny.

The allegations surfaced as part of a broader investigation into corruption involving the global logistics giant, where evidence reportedly points to the Adani Group’s involvement in illicit payments. Congress has linked this to earlier reports, including claims of stock manipulation and opaque financial dealings revealed by the Hindenburg Research report.

Congress sees the controversy as an opportunity to target the BJP government over its alleged favoritism towards Adani, labeling it “crony capitalism.” Opposition leaders argue that the lack of domestic investigation reflects a deliberate attempt to shield the conglomerate.

The BJP has yet to respond to these latest accusations. Meanwhile, Congress has vowed to raise the issue during the Winter Session of Parliament, urging accountability and transparency. The matter continues to fuel political debates as Opposition parties unite to challenge the government’s alleged inaction.

The Adani Group has previously denied allegations of wrongdoing, asserting its commitment to ethical business practices and compliance with all regulations.
