Naseem only played the first match of the seven-match series against England in Karachi before being rested for the next three.
Naseem has been diagnosed with pneumonia, and the medical team is currently monitoring him. They will decide on his future participation in matches and whether he will accompany the team to New Zealand, the PCB stated.
Pakistan is already without their star fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi, who has been out since mid-July with a knee injury and is currently rehabilitating in the United Kingdom.
Both Shaheen and Naseem have been named to Pakistan’s World Cup squad, and Naseem will accompany the team to New Zealand.
According to medical experts, recovery from pneumonia varies; a patient may be able to return to work in a week or two, or he may require four to six weeks to fully recover because the disease affects the lungs.
Patients recovering from pneumonia have been known to complain of tiredness and exhaustion for up to three months after their recovery.
