The Indian team is set to fly to Brisbane on October 6, and a second-string side led by Shikhar Dhawan has been named for the three-match ODI series against South Africa, which begins in Lucknow on October 6. Shreyas Iyer of Mumbai is expected to play in the third T20 International.
KL Rahul and Virat Kohli both hit form in the second T20 International in Guwahati. Rahul, who has been chastised for not being more aggressive in the shorter format, played an aggressive innings, scoring 57 off 28 balls with five fours and four sixes.
Kohli, too, looked in good form on his way to 49 points off 28 shots. Kohli ended his century drought last month with an unbeaten 122 against Afghanistan in the Asia Cup. He also scored 63 points against Australia in Hyderabad.
India will play two warm-up games before the T20 World Cup, against New Zealand on October 17 and Australia on October 18. After consulting with head coach Rahul Dravid, the BCCI will also organize warm-up games before the team’s first match against archrivals Pakistan on October 23 in Melbourne.
