“For a long time, I’ve been craving validation from the industry,” Massey confessed. “I always backed myself and continue to do so, but it was very important for me, deep within me, to be recognized by more people and not just be labeled an alternate actor. ’12th Fail’s commercial success was important for me because it showed that my work resonates with a wider audience.”
Massey also discussed how people’s attitudes change with success and failure. “I’ve seen people change like the weather in success and failure,” he said. “I move on very quickly and don’t sit with either for too long. The same things can change equally fast the moment you trip again and are back to where you began.”
The actor emphasized the importance of consistency and staying true to one’s craft. “The idea is to keep working towards what your larger desires are, and in my case, it is to be consistent with what I do as an actor,” Massey added. “There are a lot more roles coming my way, and a lot many producers want to work with me now. I wanted that.”
Massey’s recent announcement of taking a long sabbatical from acting has surprised many fans and industry insiders. However, he clarified that he is not retiring but taking a break to focus on his family and personal life2. “I’m content with my 20-year-long journey,” he said. “I feel blessed to be a part of this time where relevant stories are being told, and I get to be a part of them.”
As Massey prepares to bid farewell to acting temporarily, the industry and his fans eagerly await his return. His journey from television to movies and OTT platforms has been nothing short of remarkable, and his contributions to cinema will be remembered for years to come.
