The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the date and final list of players for the upcoming Women’s Premier League (WPL) auction. The auction is scheduled to take place in Bengaluru on December 15, 2024, with 120 players, including 91 Indian and 29 overseas cricketers, up for grabs1.

    The auction will feature 19 slots, with 5 reserved for overseas players. Among the capped Indian players, Gujarat Giants’ Sneh Rana, who has led the franchise, is expected to attract significant attention1. West Indies’ star all-rounder Deandra Dottin, who recently returned from international retirement and impressed at the T20 World Cup, is also likely to be one of the most sought-after names.

    England’s Heather Knight, along with other prominent overseas names like Australia’s Kim Garth and Darcie Brown, South Africa’s Nadine de Klerk, and UAE’s Samaira Dharnidharka, are also part of the final list. The auction will begin at 3 PM on Sunday, December 151.

    The five teams participating in the auction are Gujarat Giants, UP Warriorz, Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians, and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Gujarat Giants enter the auction with the biggest purse remaining at Rs 4.40 crore, needing four players, including two overseas, to fill their slots1. UP Warriorz need to fill three slots, including one overseas player, while Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians have four slots each to fill. Royal Challengers Bangalore have no slots left for another overseas player1.
