The FIR accuses Gandhi of using criminal force, assaulting, and threatening BJP MPs Pratap Rao Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput. The charges are based on Sections 115 (voluntary causing hurt), 117 (voluntary causing grievous hurt), 125 (act of endangering life or personal safety of others), 131 (use of criminal force), 351 (criminal intimidation), and 3(5) (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.

In response, Gandhi denied the allegations, claiming that BJP members pushed and threatened him. The Congress party also filed a complaint against BJP lawmakers for misconduct. The police are examining footage of the incident and investigating complaints from both parties.

This incident has further disrupted the already turbulent winter session of Parliament, which was adjourned shortly after beginning on Friday. Gandhi’s sister, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, described the police investigation as a sign of BJP’s desperation. The scuffle and subsequent FIR have intensified political tensions between the opposition and the ruling party, raising concerns about the conduct of parliamentary proceedings and the potential impact on the legislative agenda.
