Do you know who is the person who voted for the first time? I will tell you about the man who is considered to be the first and oldest voter of all time. The man is Shyam saran Negi born in the tribal district of Himachal Pradesh called Kinnaur. He was a teacher by profession. He became the first voter of independent India when the general polls were conducted in January and February of 1952.
He was known as master Shyam by all his students. Negi was felicitated at his residence by officers of the Election Commission of India (EC), Sadiq, returning officer cum SDM Kalpa, Major (retd) Dr. Shashank Gupta, and other district administration officials.
