Most of the IITs, IIMs, government medical, engineering and management colleges have majority of the student from the reserved background which is believed to be a necessity by the government and law instituitions of the country but does that really elevate their conditions?
Talking about the official data 60% of the Drop outs from the top 7 IITs are from the reserved categories! 85% quota seats remain empty as candidate fail to meet the Grades! Ex-HRD minister Dr. Ramesh pokhariyal informed that from 2017 to 2019, 62 out of 99 dropouts from IIMs were reserved category students. Majority of those who get into medical college due to quotas run behind a government job as they find it hard to get into a private hospital. Many who complete the degree do not get up campus placement due to lack of either good grades or other skills like good communication as they were not privileged enough to learn a language English during their initial education. All this is equal injustice to the unreserved as well as the reserved students. These children are usually viewed as dumb! who have made it into these colleges only because of the quotas. As the unreserved knows the hardship of getting into a dream government college they always have this impression that they lost their deserved seat to a reserved one. This strengths the discriminatory feeling and they have to face regular discrimination in the canteens, hostels, classroom. They even find it tough to get into any social circle or open up publicly. All these things require core solution, the discriminated section or the weaker section should be provided with the best education and skills in the school itself. There should be special arrangements right from the beginning of their education so that we can atleast provide the real benefits of reservation to those who faced oppression since years. What are your thoughts on this?
