Even when west is expecting India to not have any ties with Russia and should not import anything by using sanction against Russia. Indian government is very stubbornly taking stance in favor of citizens.
From accounting for just 0.2% of all the oil imported by India in the year ending March 2022, Russia emerged the top supplier in October u2013 with a 22% share of total crude imports u2013 to elbow aside traditional suppliers Iraq and Saudi Arabia. Shows that Indian government will do what it will benefit to the citizens. However S Jaishankar says it is not only for India but also for world economy he said u201cAnd when we do so, we not only serve our national interest, we…as major G20 economies…are actually helping to stabilize the world economy as wellu201d.u201cAs regards the oil supply issue…there is a stress on the energy markets…created by a combination of factors. But as the worldu2019s third largest consumer of oil and gas, a consumer where the levels of income are not very high, it is our fundamental obligation to ensure that the Indian consumer has the best possible access, on the most advantageous terms, to international markets,u201d Jaishankar said. It shows that India is openly accepting it’s tie with Russia for a greater benefits. But doubt remains in many experts will India continue to do so if west decide to sanction Russian oil buyers as well. Will India continue take neutral stance without accepting the west norms?Comment down your thoughts.
