On Monday, the Indian government abolished the obligation that all international passengers fill out an Air Suvidha form. International passengers flying into India can disclose their current health status and recent trip information via the online service Air Suvidha. The filling of the form was made compulsory in view of Covid surge. The guidelines from the ministry of health and family welfare stated that the present guidelines are being amended in light of persistent fall in covid-19 trajectory and considerable progress being made in covid-19 vaccine coverage both internationally as well as in India. For arriving international passengers, Air Suvidha adopted a self-declaration form in August 2020. Before the scheduled flight, the government required passengers to provide accurate and complete information in the self-declaration form on the online Air Suvidha portal, including any trip during the previous 14 days. Additionally, travellers had to submit information about a negative covid-19 RT-PCR test result obtained within 72 hours of their trip or information about their entire primary immunisation schedule for covid-19 vaccination.Additionally, the government had ordered airlines to only permit boarding for customers who completely filled out the self-declaration form on the Air Suvidha website. In India, this form had to be presented at the point of entrance as well.
The most recent guidelines, which come into effect on November 22, stipulate that all visitors wanting to travel internationally to India should ideally be completely immunised in accordance with the primary immunisation schedule against COVID-19 that has been approved in their home country.Any traveller exhibiting Covid-19 symptoms while travelling must be separated in accordance with established protocol, which calls for the usage of a mask, isolation and segregation from other passengers throughout the flight or transit, and then transfer to an isolation facility for further care. People will continue to be warned during in-flight announcements about the need to take measures for COVID-19 and instructed to wear masks and keep a sufficient distance between one another.According to the recommendations, if anyone exhibits any Covid-19 symptoms after arriving, they should continue to check their health, go to the nearest medical facility, and phone either the national (1075) or state hotline numbers.According to experts, the regulation adjustment was a wise move and a crucial sign that life was returning to normal. Dr. Anupam Sibal, group medical director of Apollo Hospitals, said, This is successful from both a psychological and health care point of view because we are encouraging return to normalcy after more than two years of coping with the pandemic.
