Terrorism once thrived in India because Congress viewed it u201cfrom the prism of vote-bank and appeasement politicsu201d, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in poll-bound Gujarat’s Kheda on Sunday while contrasting BJP’s fight against terror with the opposition’s u201cunchanged mindsetu201d and u201cbackdooru201d attempts to save the perpetrators.Against Congress and other like-minded parties, the entire nation needs to be extremely vigilant… Two days before the end of the election-related campaigning for the first round of voting on December 1, Modi declared at a rally that the threat of terrorism looms till vote-bank politics remain.Referring to the Batla House incident in Delhi in 2008, the PM charged that the Congress leadership had been seen crying over the terrorists who had been killed. In the shootout, a police officer and two terrorists perished. According to Modi, the wave of bombings in Ahmedabad and Surat that same year that killed dozens of people and the 26/11 assaults in Mumbai were all a part of the terror threat that the BJP had to face after taking power at the federal level.
The BJP government skillfully attacked sleeper cells. In contrast to the previous Congress government in Delhi, which used to spend all of its resources to liberate terrorists, we will capture terrorists and pursue their networks, the prime minister claimed. In reference to Arvind Kejriwal’s AAP, he added, Not just Congress; there are certain minor parties who also resort to the politics of short-cuts and appeasement in their drive for power.Modi claimed that these parties remained silent even as the nation experienced some of the most horrendous terrorist assaults just to ensure a few people don’t feel insulted. Worse yet, he continued, when terrorists were detained, these parties entered the courts through a back door, and some of their employees defended the terrorists. The PM stated that since the BJP intensified its reaction to terrorism, terrorist organisation leaders consider 100 times before carrying out some strike on the borders, leave alone cities.

The prime minister made a reference to the surgical strikes by saying, We barged into their house and finished them. But by challenging this conduct, Congress and other parties cast doubt on the military’s bravery, he claimed. Only the BJP, according to Modi, can protect the nation from terrorism, something that both the party’s federal and state governments are steadfastly working to achieve. Only the double-engine government in Gujarat can guarantee this, he continued. We have protected Gujarat from terrorism. I want to keep the current generation, who has not even seen a curfew, safe from bomb blasts.
The Assembly elections in Gujarat are scheduled to be held in two phases on December 1 and December 5, whose results will be declared on December 8, which coincides with the result date of the Himachal Pradesh polls. While voting in constituencies in Kheda district will be held in both phases, Surat and Bharuch will vote on December 1. In the last elections in 2017, BJP won 99 seats and the Congress came close with 77 seats. The BJP has been in power for the last 27 years with Modi being the longest-serving chief minister of the state.Do you believe that Congress and other parties with similar ideologies have utilised terrorism in India as a vote bank?
