In exactly 55 days, fans will be all set to welcome Shah Rukh Khan back to the silver screens again. Though he never left, his hiatus has been for five years now. The actor now is gearing up for the upcoming action entertainer Pathaan which is a part of Yash Raj Filmsu2019 50th anniversary. The actor recently claimed that prior to Siddharth Anand’s direction of Pathaan, no one was seeking him for action movies.Shah Rukh Khan attended the special screening of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge on Thursday at the Red Sea Festival in Saudi Arabia. The actor talked to Deadline about Pathaan and his motivation for wanting to work in action films. u201cIu2019ve never done an action film, Iu2019ve done really sweet love stories, Iu2019ve done some social dramas, Iu2019ve done some bad guys, but nobody was taking me for action, he explained. Iu2019m 57 years old, and I thought for the next years I have to do action films, I want to do Mission Impossible-ish kind of films. I want to do over-the-top kind of action films. Shah Rukh Khan continued by stating that India is experiencing a rapid technological advancement. Khan continued, I think we’ve advanced by leaps and bounds, therefore I want to apply all that information.
Shah Rukh Khan had previously discussed his motivations for doing Pathaan in June 2022. It was a lot of fun when we first started filming Pathaan. He said, It’s an action movie with great co-stars like Deepika Padukone, John Abraham, and Ashutosh Rana. It’s the kind of movie I’ve wanted to do for 30 years. I’ve always considered myself to be an action-oriented person.In light of this, I believe my perception of Pathaan is that, as an actor, I have hopefully accomplished what I had really hoped to do when I first arrived in Mumbai.In his 50s, he acknowledged, he is still enjoying the process of becoming an action hero, just as he did in his 20s. I liked it. Action is enjoyable to perform. It’s getting a bit late (referring to his age). I’m trying to make things work at the age of 56 by being strong and manly. Siddharth and the entire action team have worked really hard. I’m hoping it will work, he grinned.u201cI remember Siddharth narrating a lot of films to me. Unfortunately, we could not find the right time to collaborate for years. He had this title called Pathaan with him. And he would tell me that, u2018Sir, maine film ready kar li hai.u2019 One fine day, when we could not work on the two scripts he narrated, he sent me a sweet message, which read, u2018I have this title. I have not been able to get a film with you. Now, please take the title and make a film whenever you want,’u201d Shah Rukh Khan said revealing that Siddharth Anand came back to him with a new script. u201cThe film has had a long journey. And soon, you all will be able to see it,u201d he said.Pathaan is set to release on January 25, 2023, in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu!
