R. Patil and the party’s top whip, Pankaj Desai.It was merely a formality because the party had already declared Mr. Patel to be the state’s new chief minister before the election.The state BJP chairman had reaffirmed on Thursday that Mr. Patel would retain the position of governor and that his oath-taking ceremony would take place on Monday.
