Ukraine launches missile attack on Russian-occupied Melitopol

Separately, reports emerged of multiple explosions in Russian-annexed Crimea, including at a military barracks in Sovietske.
Melitopol’s Moscow-installed administrators reported four missiles hitting the city, killing two and injuring ten, while there mayor reported several explosions, including one at a church occupied by Russian forces.However, Ukrainian officials have made no comment on the explosions in Crimea.Ivan Fedorov, Ukraine’s former Melitopol city administrator, confirmed the strikes, claiming they targeted Russian military bases.
Last month, Federov claimed that Russia had turned Melitopol into one massive military base.The Russian military is settling in confiscated local homes, schools, and kindergartens. Military equipment is stationed in residential areas Federov stated in November.Melitopol mayor Ivan Fedorov said there had been several explosions, including one at the Melitopol Christian Church.At around 9 p.m. local time on Saturday, the attack on Melitopol occurred amid social media footage and reports of several explosions in the Crimean city of Simferopol.There were also reports of explosions in Sevastopol, the Russian Black Sea fleet’s headquarters; at a Russian military barracks in Sovietske; and in Hvardiiske, Dzhankoi, and Nyzhniohirskyi.The explosions come after Moscow increased its missile attacks on Ukraine last week, following Russian claims that Kiev was behind recent drone strikes on military airfields deep within its territory.There are conflicting accounts of the explosions in Crimea.According to the unofficial Crimean media portal Krymskyi veter, an explosion at a Russian military barracks in Sovietske set the barracks on fire, and there were dead and injured.War destroys communities and families and frequently disrupts the development of nations’ social and economic fabric.
