In the advertisement, the protagonist came up with Vimu2019s new product, dishwashing liquid for men, with the tagline, Easy to clean, more to brag, when a person in the gym was bragging about how tired he was as he helped his mom with the dishes.
This advertisement went viral in no time, and netizens gave mixed signals to HUL regarding the advertisement.Some of them were fuming and commented that this is the same product and the ad is sexist. Actor Milind Soman was also trolled by the fans.Vim issued a clarification regarding the product and said this Vim for Men is a fictitious product and the advertisement showing the new product was indeed a joke.They further clarified in an Instagram post from their official handle in their open letter to men that the liquid inside is the same, and they are more concerned about the fact that men should think household chores are equally important and gender-neutral. They should not brag about it. They should make a new year’s resolution of going to the kitchen and doing the dishes.This advertisement was focused on the gender stereotype and the societal stereotype of women doing household chores.This is not the first time HUL has done this. Vim launched the campaign featuring Virendar Sehwag cleaning the dish with Vim’s gel in 2020.
