According to Safdarjung hospital the victim survived 8% burn on her face and neck. Both of her eyes are affected, the extent of affect can only be described once the ophthalmologist assesses it.The incident was caught on CCTV camera which showed 2 people on a bike throwing acid at the girl on the sidewalk. A total of 3 arrests have been made till now which includes the victimu2019s neighbour Sachin Arora and his friend Harshit Agrawal. Their accomplice, Virendra Singh alias Sonu, has also been arrested. There are reports that the 17-year-old victim was in a relationship with the 20-year-old accused Sachin Arora and the real motive behind the attack was to take revenge for their 3-month-old breakup. The incident has triggered the question of the source of the acid. Police claim that the accused bought the acid through Flipkart. Officials believe that the accused threw nitric acid on the victim. However, the type of acid used in the crime will be confirmed after a forensic examination, police said. The case again proves that practically there is no fear in the minds of such people who are driven by revenge. The real psychic of such people revolves around causing undoable harm to the person. This case also proves the failure of the justice system that even after quite loud awareness about the selling of acid, how come it is so easily available to a 20-year-old?Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal has demanded stringent punishment for those involved in throwing the acid and asserted that the government is concerned about every child in the city. In a tweet, Kejriwal said: u201cThis cannot be tolerated at all. How did the accused gather so much courage? The accused should be given the strictest punishment. The safety of every girl child in Delhi is important to us.u201dEven though there will be proceedings and hearings, the case has created a sense of restlessness among the people. For how long the girls of the country have to live in the terror of being another headline?
