Womanu2019s father found his daughter strangled from the ceiling fan on December 10. She was initially rushed by the family and other neighbours to a government hospital, but due to the treatment’s delay, they decided to transfer her to a private facility in south Delhi.u201cWe were asked to deposit u20b975,000, then the hospital asked for another u20b910,000. We somehow managed to pay this amount by borrowing money from our relatives and neighbours. Now the medical bill has come to around u20b94 lakh. We do not know how we will pay this,u201d said the womanu2019s father.u201cWhen we brought her to the hospital, the doctors told us that if we were even five minutes late, she would not have survived. We were desperate for her to get medical attention to save her life and now the family is suffering for it. All the doctors are listening to us and they say that they understand what we are going through but no one is giving us any solution. She wakes up and cries to be discharged. Every day in the hospital is adding to the bill,u201d ha neighbour of the family said.The patient is currently recovering in the hospital’s critical care unit (ICU). Her family reported that she is awake but is extremely upset.The patient’s family has asked the hospital to forego payment and assist in moving her to a public facility so that the remainder of her treatment can be completed.
